A low pH value (acidic water) means that there is aggressive carbon dioxide in the water and that the alkalinity is low. This means that the water has corrosive properties and corrodes pipes, water heaters and other metals. If this is not remedied, it will eventually lead to leakage on pipes etc.
When the water comes in contact with the filter material which consists of lime, the aggressive carbon dioxide eats away at the lime instead of attacking, for example, copper pipes. The carbon dioxide is neutralized at the same time as the pH value and alkalinity are raised.
Some of the lime is consumed and you will need to add more 1-2 times a year.
Backwashing can be done easily by opening a ball valve on the outgoing flex hose.
A ball valve, nipple and flushing hose are included for this.
